Kingsford Legal Centre is a community legal centre providing free legal advice and assistance to the local community and to people across New South Wales. The team of solicitors provides advice on matters such as domestic violence, credit and debt, victim compensation, criminal law, employment law and discrimination law. The Aboriginal Community Worker will assist and support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients of the Kingsford Legal Centre to access legal assistance. They will work with the staff of the Centre to develop culturally sensitive strategies for the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients and promote external links between the Centre and the local Aboriginal community, as well as helping to train KLC’s staff and students on these strategies.
