Hours: 30 hours, 4 days per week

Salary range: $115,635-$120,744 p.a. (pro rata is $92,508-$96595.20 p.a., salary packaging available)

Community Legal Centres Australia is the national representative voice for the community legal sector. Our members are the eight state and territory community legal sector peak bodies. Together, we represent 152 community legal centres (including thirteen Women’s Legal Services), eleven Family Violence Prevention and Legal Services and two Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Legal Services. Community legal services provide high-quality, free legal and related services to people and communities experiencing financial hardship or other barriers to justice – such as violence, disadvantage, and discrimination.

The community legal centres movement’s vision for a fair and equitable society will only be realised through progressive law reform to make the legal system fairer, and through adequate resourcing and services for our sector so that the people and communities we work with can access the legal supports they need. We contribute to delivering this vision by:

  • Giving voice to the people and communities our centres work with so that their experiences of the justice system can drive reform
  • Coordinating sector views so that community legal centres can, wherever possible, speak with one voice, particularly when advocating to national-level justice stakeholders, such as the federal government
  • Amplifying the law reform work of state and territory community legal sector peaks and individual services, and supporting them with strategic advice and resources
  • Building understanding of and support for our sector among federal parliamentarians and other national-level decision-makers.

The Policy and Communications Coordinators works with the CEO, Advocacy and Communications Manager and other staff to:

  • Deliver the organisation’s national law reform and funding advocacy
  • Manage communications to the sector and other key stakeholders, including the media, across all of Community Legal Centres Australia’s different project areas including our accreditation program, national insurance scheme, and data and technology work
  • Deliver the biennial National Community Legal Centres Conference.
