Criminal Solicitor/Senior Criminal Solicitor, Women’s Homelessness|Justice and Equity Centre|Sydney NSW

The Criminal Solicitor will provide criminal law advice and representation to women, particularly those who are victims survivors of domestic and family violence or sexual assault. Additionally, you will:

  • advise and appear on behalf of clients in the Local Court and the District court in relation to criminal matters
  • advise and appear on behalf of HPLS Women’s Service in relation to Apprehended Domestic Violence orders
  • contribute to the work of HPLS in responding to systemic issues for women experiencing homelessness.

You will have an understanding of legal issues and barriers facing women who are victim survivors of domestic and family violence or sexual assault and/or women experiencing homelessness. You will also have:

  • at least five years’ post-admission experience
  • sound interpersonal skills and experience developing relationships with clients and stakeholders
  • capacity to conduct outreach to women in the community  to provide accurate and appropriate assistance
