Waitematā Community Law Centre, one of New Zealand’s largest independent community law centres, is seeking a Principal Solicitor to lead its growing legal practice. This senior leadership role combines strategic leadership, people management and legal expertise, overseeing a team of lawyers, volunteers and support staff delivering free legal advice, education and outreach. You will lead and mentor lawyers, supervise legal services, oversee complex casework, drive practice development and ensure compliance. The ideal candidate will bring six-plus years’ PQE, a current NZ practising certificate, proven leadership experience, strong coaching skills, and broad legal knowledge. Approval to practise on own account is preferred, or willingness to complete Stepping Up. In return, the role offers excellent work-life balance, flexible hours and generous leave.
Please submit an application with your CV and cover letter. You will need to have the right to work and practice law in New Zealand and have a valid driver license. Applications from candidates that do not currently have the right to live, work and practice in New Zealand will not be considered.
