The Public Interest Advocacy Centre (PIAC) is a community legal centre that specialises in strategic litigation and systemic advocacy on social justice and human rights issues.

For over 35 years we have been tackling difficult issues that have a significant impact upon people experiencing disadvantage. We have a reputation for getting results and creating sustainable change.

PIAC is seeking a solicitor/senior solicitor to lead PIAC’s work on Aboriginal child protection as part of our broader advocacy on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Justice. The role will also contribute to other areas of PIAC’s work as required.

This is a fifteen month contract. The solicitor in this role must have a commitment to working in partnership with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and organisations, and the ability to manage a diverse range of stakeholder relationships.

This is a challenging and rewarding position requiring a creative and energetic lawyer with
at least three years post-admission experience in relevant areas of law;
an understanding of how law can be used as part of a strategy to drive change; and
a demonstrated commitment to human rights and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander justice.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are strongly encouraged to apply.
